Having high protein low fat meals in your diet is of utmost importance if your main goal is to lose weight and develop a healthier body. You have to realize that sufficient amount of protein in the body can help you boost your body’s metabolism and build more body muscles and curb your appetite.

However, if you choose to add various protein sources in your diet, you also have to make sure that you prevent consuming fats as well. To help you out, here are some of the best sources of protein with low amount of fats that you can include in your diet:

  • Broccoli – this is a great example of vegetables with high amount of protein and low amount of fats. Broccoli contains 2.82 grams of protein and 0.37 grams of fat and is great for a weight loss diet.
  • Legumes – garbanzo beans, kidney beans, lentils, lima beans, navy beans, soybeans, split peas are good low-fat protein sources.
  • Egg Whites – this is considered as one of the best sources of protein, as long as you do not consume the yellow part of it or the yolk. Although the yolk has lots of nutrients, it should not be consumed if you are following a low fat diet. When possible, buy organic or free-range eggs.
  • Chicken – chicken is another great source of protein, particularly the breast part of it. This has high protein and low fat and is very easy to cook and so you would surely have various recipes and dishes with chicken in it. When possible, buy organic or free range chicken.
  • Cottage Cheese – this is an excellent source of protein and is beneficial for vegetarians. However, when shopping for cottage cheese, make sure that you opt for the one with low amount of fats in it. When possible, buy organic.
  • Tuna – this is another great source of protein. For many health-conscious and weight-conscious people, nothing beats a tasty tuna sandwich or salad, but the fact that your favorite fish might have been caught using environmentally devastating methods should leave a bad taste in your mouth. Consider this: overfishing will wipe out the breeding population of Atlantic bluefin tuna, one of the ocean’s largest and fastest predators, in three years unless catches are dramatically reduced. So, even though it contains 23 grams of protein and 1 to 4 grams of fat and is highly beneficial for athletes and bodybuilders – I think it’s best to skip the tuna and opt for vegetable sources of other types of protein.

Take note that there are various foods that can provide you with high amount of proteins. However, you have to make sure that the protein source you opt for has low amount of fats so that it will not ruin your diet. You can also check some fitness blog for information on how you can maintain a healthy diet that would help you lose weight fast or consult a dietitian to help you devise the right weight loss plan for you. When following a certain diet, you also have to make sure that you avoid opting for processed foods as they often lack the essential nutrients that your body needs.
